Since he started guiding in Africa in the early 1980s, Mike has shared his fascination and enthusiasm for the world’s wildlife with hundreds of people.   Today, Mike’s skills and professionalism as safari guide and wildlife tour leader are well-known, having been the subject of features in several magazines and newspapers as well as radio and television programmes. 

Africa - and much more….
After an incredible 100+ African safaris, Mike is probably the most experienced UK-based safari guide operating in Africa.  His African safaris primarily involve Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia but he has also led groups to other parts of Africa including Namibia, South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe.  Mike’s guiding skills are not confined to Africa, however.  He has led many wildlife tours to other parts of the world including Antarctica, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Finland, Guyana, The Galapagos Islands, India, Norway, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

As an experienced wildlife photographer, Mike tries to provide his clients with wonderful opportunities for photography.   Whenever possible, he gets his groups into the best positions and stays long enough, within reason, for everyone to obtain good images.  Furthermore, Mike is always on hand to offer guidance and advice about photography.

Birds and the Natural World….
People who join Mike’s tours invariably share his interest in birds and bird watching - as well as wildlife in general - and benefit from Mike’s skills as an ornithologist.  However, the intention is never simply to list as many species as possible in the time available (in fact, obsessive "twitchers" are not encouraged to join Mike’s groups).  The emphasis is on enjoyment of birds and a broad appreciation of the natural world.  Mike brings a “rounded approach” to the many facets of a wildlife holiday and always tries to balance the different interests of his group, whether they are mammals, bird watching or photography.
